Rutherford forced to reopen its search for new head baseball coach

SPRINGFIELD, FL (WJHG/WECP) There's news on the Rutherford baseball front, but unfortuately it's not news those involved in the program have been waiting for!

Rutherford Athletic Director Kirk Harrell says he has been forced to reopen the search process. Harrell telling us Wednesday, after just ten coaches applied, five were interviewed.

He says though he felt there were quality candidates in those five, he was unable to hire any of them for three reasons. Some didn't have the proper certification. Others had issues finding housing, a common problem all over Bay County. And they couldn't match prospective candidates with available teaching positions open at the school.

So coach Harrell says the position will be re-posted on the district website starting Thursday and will run through the 17th.

As Harrell puts it, "We haven't found that right fit yet, but fortunately we have more time to make the selection.
