PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Both the Garry Terrell Track of Champions and Chapman Field were put to good use for a pair of firsts Saturday afternoon.
The Bay High Invitational welcomed 17 schools for the first meet Bay has hosted as a program, simultaneously the first track and field meet held at the new Tommy Oliver Stadium.
It was a great day for Niceville and South Walton, placing first and second in the boys and girls overall standings. All things considered, it's also the start of a good thing for teams in the area.
"There have been a lot of calls made. There have been a lot of facility things that have been done," Bay assistant coach Jasmine Fennell said. "I think that everyone in the county that is able to use this facility is going to benefit greatly. They have pulled out the best of the best at this point. We're just happy to be some of the first to use it."
The stadium will host the county meet in two weeks.
