Car crashes into tow truck that was on scene of another crash

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A crash scene turned into the scene of two crashes early Saturday morning after a car crashed into a tow truck that was in the process of hauling away another crashed car.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, they were on scene of a crash that had happened around 2 a.m. on Thomas Drive, near Crescent Street. They said a tow truck arrived at the scene to haul away one of the cars that was involved in the crash.

Troopers said the tow truck was parked in the center/middle turn lane with its lights on and flashing as the tow truck driver was out and talking with one of the troopers on the shoulder of the road.

Troopers said at that time, a 65-year-old woman from Memphis, Tennessee was driving an SUV down Thomas Drive towards the scene.

The woman reportedly did not yield to the emergency vehicles with their lights on, and the SUV rolled into the center lane, crashing into the tow truck’s flatbed.

Authorities said the trooper on scene pulled the woman, who was seriously injured in the crash, from the car and gave her emergency medical aid until Bay County Emergency Medical Services arrived.
