HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Holmes County Jail is currently operating without hot water following a system malfunction, authorities said Wednesday morning.

According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, a plumber inspected the system and determined that the facility’s commercial-sized water heater must be replaced.

Officials noted that the jail still has running water. They said that replacing the unit is more complex than a standard residential repair. Unlike household water heaters, commercial-grade replacements cannot be purchased at local hardware stores.

The sheriff’s office is actively working to find a replacement unit or an alternative temporary solution to restore hot water as quickly as possible.

We’ll provide updates as they become available.
