While HIV/AIDS are diseases usually associated with young people, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates about half of all people with HIV/AIDS in the U.S. are 50 and older.

Rick Vitale, the HIV/AID program coordinator for the Florida Department of Health in Bay County, joined Carly Hildyard Monday morning to talk about the health department's National HIV/AIDS Aging Awareness Day event.

On September 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., members of the community can come visit the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for free health screenings for HIV, Hepatitis C, blood sugar, and weight.

The event will also host programs such as Habitat for Humanity Housing, healthy living, WIC, smoking cessation, sexual assault and diabetes.

For more information, refer to Carly's interview, or visit the Bay County Florida Department of Health website.
