Hundreds of locals sign up every year to work as Precinct Election Officials.

Tuesday, about a dozen people were in the Supervisor of Elections office to train to work in the polls on election day.

Those who sign up get paid for the training and for working election day, though Supervisor of Elections, Mark Andersen, said it's not much.

People who volunteer will work a 12 to 15 hour day. There are various leadership positions available for those who apply.

"It's a patriotic value that people have that do this job. And you know we have 112,000 voters in Bay County and without these 600 people we would not be doing elections," Andersen said. "It's not about the pay it's just about the value of what you're able to provide your community."

Andersen said there are about 40 precinct locations in the county, not including the early voting locations.

If you're interested in a position, you can contact or visit the Supervisor of Elections office. You can find the office's contact location in the link above.
