Panama City Beach, FL---Saturday at the Aquatic Center at Frank Brown, the Panama City Swim Team took to the pool for their latest meet.
But just because they were at home, doesn't mean they were playing host.Their friends from Fort Walton Beach over at the Coast Aquatics Swim Team is leading their Surf and Swim Classic.
The long course meet has a huge turnout on hand. 522 swimmers have switched in and out of the lanes all day from seven different states, some coming from as far as Louisiana and Tennessee.
The trip is easier for PCST, as they're more than happy to let Coast Aquatics run the show, who's more than happy to use the facility.
"Frank Brown's an awesome host," says Coast Aquatics head coach Brad Kale. "PCST, we've got a great relationship with them so we kinda have a partnership a little bit with this meet. And it's been really successful for us. Since we moved this meet to Panama City in three years, it's doubled in size."
"It's great to stay at home," says PCST head coach Brian Haddad. "We're in our own bed. We don't have the expensive travel and hotels, but it's nice to not have to do all the work required and the setup and everything like that. But these guys are just down the road about an hour and we're really good friends with their team. So it's been great to have another meet here at home."
The two-day meet continues at the Aquatic Center Sunday morning for the final heats.
