Milwaukee, WI---Packers camp is now under way and that means it's the the start of the NFL career of another local product, Bay alum Khyri Thornton.
Thornton the third round pick of the Packers in the 2014 draft, began camp with his new team over the weekend.
Thornton wearing number 94 as he works to not only make the team, but find himself in the Pack's defensive line rotation.
Working in his favor right now, some veteran defensive lineman, like Letroy Guion and Jerel Worthy are injured, and sitting out the early days of camp. That means Thornton's likely to get more reps in training camp. The fact he's versatile in terms of his position, also working in his favor.
"I've played in five schemes in five years in college." says Thornton. "And I've played defensive end, three-technique, two-technique, nose, zero, five, everywhere. So I feel like I fit in everywhere. Wherever the team needs me, wherever the coach wants me to play. Wherever I can get in, to fit, to make us win, I'll play it. I enjoy playing. I'm gonna give my effort, 100 percent."
Khyri says he plans to learn from the likes of veteran BJ Raji and second year lineman Josh Boyd as camp progresses. We'll be hearing more from Thornton as he continues to work his way through camp and the preseason begins.
