MILTON, Fla. (WALA) - Feeding the Gulf Coast says it has distributed more than 1.4 million pounds of emergency food, water and essential supplies after Hurricane Isaias.

Families are facing damaged homes, limited access to food and mounting recovery costs. The organization said it will continue coordinating its response with local and state agencies.

“For families facing storm damage, lost income, and mounting recovery costs, access to food cannot wait,” said Michael Ledger, president and CEO of Feeding the Gulf Coast in a release. “Distributing more than 1.4 million pounds in just over a week reflects the commitment of our team, partners, and supporters. But the need continues, and additional financial support is critical to keeping food moving to communities throughout recovery.”

Emergency distributions remain underway, including in rural and hard-to-reach communities.

Financial donations are critical to sustaining emergency distributions and responding to changing food assistance needs. Contributions to Feeding the Gulf Coast’s Hurricane Isaias Relief Fund help provide food, water, and essential supplies for families facing the challenging recovery ahead.
