Trump to rally for Hyde-Smith in Mississippi as Senate race tightens
President continues to stump in safe districts
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a campaign rally in Mississippi on Monday to support Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) as the midterm elections approach.
The president is set to rally at Crossroads Arena in Corinth, Miss. Monday.
“They’ve asked me to go. I’m going there, I think, on Monday. And I look forward to it,” Trump said.
The rally is focused on bolstering support for Hyde-Smith, the state’s incumbent Republican senator, as well as other GOP candidates. It comes as polling suggests the Senate race is becoming more competitive despite the state’s Republican voting history.
Republican Party officials say their strategy is focused on turnout for their party.
“This president knows how to turn out these low propensity voters. And the midterms, historically, it’s all about turnout,” RNC Chair Joe Gruters said.
Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom suggested the visit is a sign of concern among Republicans. Colom wrote on X, “Cindy High Prices is scared and that’s why she’s sending Donald Trump down here. She’s scared to answer why she voted to cut healthcare, why she betrayed our farmers and why she blocked the release of the Epstein files.”
The president is scheduled to begin speaking at the rally at 6 p.m. Central Time Monday.
