St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club is rebuilding 2 years after devastating fire
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - November marks two years since the fire that destroyed the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club’s historic clubhouse — but members say the spirit of the club never burned out.
The clubhouse, nearly a century old, went up in flames in November 2023 just hours after a party. Despite the loss, members stayed optimistic.
“We lost a building, but we didn’t lose the club,” said member Wynn. “The Bay didn’t burn.”
Plans for a new clubhouse are moving forward, with construction expected to begin by the end of the year and take about 12 to 14 months.
The rebuild will include a redesigned pool, expansive porches, and large bay-facing windows — features leaders hope will make the new space a community centerpiece and a popular venue for local events.
