Early clouds give way to mostly sunny skies today
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Good Thursday morning everyone!
It’s an active morning on satellite and radar in the South with showers and thunderstorms around the Mississippi River. Upper level clouds are streaming into our skies this morning off those frontal storms.
However, we’ll once again be hard-pressed to find any substantial rain in the forecast for today. In fact, those morning upper level clouds will thin out, and with some fair weather cumulus clouds developing in the afternoon, we’ll wind up with a partly sunny day. There’s a less than 10% chance for an isolated and brief quick shower where we get the warmest this afternoon.
It’s already a warm and humid start. Temperatures warm from the 70s this morning quickly to the 80s by mid to late morning with highs today pushing the low to mid 80s around the beaches, to upper 80s around the bays and on up to near 90 inland for the Tri-State especially.
That afternoon heat and the added moisture from the surface to higher up in the atmosphere may be able to counteract our ridge of high pressure trying to suppress any afternoon rain chances. If we don’t see it today, then Friday and Saturday will also have about a 10% chance for a stray shower away from the coast.
We’ll keep the forecast mainly dry into the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend outside that isolated and brief inland shot at a shower. Plenty of sunshine and heat build into the late week forecast as well. With mostly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday we may see highs away from the beaches and bays reach the low 90s. Heat indices will push up to near 90 on the coast and into the mid to upper 90s inland this weekend.
Bottom Line...
For today, fog and some morning clouds give way to a partly to mostly sunny midday and afternoon. Highs today push the low to mid 80s around the beaches, to upper 80s around the bays and on up to near 90 inland for the Tri-State especially. There’s a less than 10% chance for an isolated and brief stray shower around the Tri-State this afternoon. Your 7 Day Forecast has more heat headed our way for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend with mainly dry days and mostly to partly sunny skies.
