WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two middle school teachers in Washington County have been accused of having sexual relationships with students. Both teachers were arrested Thursday.

On August 27, the sheriff’s office got a Department of Children and Families tip about Joshua Myers. While investigating, they uncovered another teacher from the same school who was accused of having sex with a student.

Washington County’s sheriff, Kevin Crews, said his team moved quickly on the case. 31-year-old Joshua Myers faces multiple charges, including lascivious battery and molestation. His victims were both 16. Another teacher, 31-year-old George Fisher, is charged with lascivious battery on a 13-year-old. The sheriff says they act fast, but can’t catch predators alone.

“You better know what’s on them phones. You better know who they’re talking to, you better keep a check on them phones. There are so many apps out there now, and the technology the way that it is, the kids are able to hide. They are able to hide so much. The best advice I can give is to know what’s on that child’s phone,” said Sheriff Crews.

The sheriff confirmed the investigations have no correlations besides the fact that they both taught at Vernon Middle School. Following these two cases, the sheriff asks that if you see something, say something. He also mentioned that in the Washington County sheriff’s app, you can see a very detailed list of sex offenders in the area.
