BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Mosley High School student is dead after sustaining critical injuries in a pedestrian crash Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on North Star Avenue, just south of Stewart Drive. 41-year-old Robert Griffiths Jr., from Bonifay, was traveling North on N. Star Avenue when he saw a pedestrian quickly crossing the roadway.

Troopers say, he attempted to move out of the way, but unfortunately hit the pedestrian. Troopers identified the pedestrian as 16-year-old Zane Norris.

According to the Mosley High School band's Facebook page, Norris was in his sophomore year and was a percussionist. The post goes on to say that Norris was an organ donor and he will now be able to directly save eight people and indirectly help over hundreds of people.

His family will hold a memorial at a later date after the COVID-19 outbreak passes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations towards funeral expenses. Donations can be made to the Norris family at Heritage Funeral Home in Panama City.

According to the FHP report, dense fog in the area limited the driver's view, and Norris may have been riding a skate board.
