PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Panama City Beach leaders said they are making progress with hurricane debris cleanup almost two weeks after Hurricane Isaias.

Mayor Tettemer said crews are working hard and asked residents to stay patient.

Public works crews are picking up debris from residential properties only.

The debris can include yard and tree waste, wooden fences, and other materials damaged by the storm.

City officials want to remind residents to place debris near the roadway, clear of fire hydrants and low-hanging trees.

“The yard debris is being picked up. It is running. We have two trucks out there running 7 days a week. It’s going to take a little while because one, there is a decent amount of debris, and two, this is when people trim their trees anyway,” said Mayor Stuart Tettemer.

The city also plans to have a bulk waste pickup in late November or early December.

Bulk waste includes furniture, appliances, and construction materials.

Items should be placed on the curb no later than 7 a.m. on the scheduled pickup date.
